Hammering the copper causes it to be stressed and brittle so the next step is to return the copper sheet back to the fire to be annealed or softened. Our copper table tops are made of recycled copper that is melted in a wood fire rolled into a sheet and hammered by hand on every square inch. Roll the copper gently going different directions until it is flat.

Lay the copper on a solid surface with the peened side up. The copper must be long enough to cover the table run down the sides and then fold underneath the top. Measure the length of the table add the thickness x 2 and add another 2 inches to wrap the copper underneath the table top one inch on each end. The thickness you go with really depends on the look you are going for the use the countertop will see the installation plan and overall personal preference.
